Known primarily for photographic works that blend eroticism and fine art, Nobuyoshi Araki is one of the most prolific artists working in Japan today. Although it first emerged in Japan in the late Edo period (mid-1800s), bondage wasn’t popularized until the 1950s, when magazines like Kitan Club and Yomikiri Romance started printing naked bondage photographs.
